The greatest thing about small businesses are the communities that form around them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have seen this since high school when I worked at my uncles' record store, in my first full-time job as a local coffee shop manager and now I get to see it in Ellery. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Community is vital to all of us and is a pillar in Ellery's values. By supporting other women-run businesses we all have more opportunities to grow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At a market earlier this year, I complimented a woman's earrings, they were so gorgeous, really striking. She said she had just bought them from another vendor and couldn't wait to put them on ( I LOVE when you all do this). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She went on with her friends to get popsicles with her friends and when she left another woman at my booth said, "you should have told her one of your pair of earrings were prettier, you missed out on a sale" To be honest this comment threw me, it is so RARE to hear things like that in the small business space I have found myself in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I haven't stopped thinking about this comment and I felt that I needed to share this experience.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The other vendor's sale was not my loss, this woman made a purchase that she LOVED, she lit up when I complimented the earrings, her face was filled with joy over this purchase. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don't believe in pushing sales because I don't see my customers as just consumers. I see you as friends, as community members. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want you to love what you buy, I want you to be so excited over your purchase you put it on immediately. Another pillar of Ellery's values is to cherish what you own. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Without all of you, Ellery would not be here, community and cherishing what you buy, and sell are what makes small businesses so incredible, and I just love this little community so much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you for being here ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are more than consumers, we are a community.
